Qualifications & Place of Study: BA (Hons) Music with Maths at Central Lancashire
Favourite show played: A long time ago, I won a music performance competition on the radio with a friend, where people had to vote for their favourite group. We performed at the Christmas lights switch on in Morley that year and it just looked like a “sea of heads” from the stage. The audience knew us from the radio and were chanting our names, which was pretty cool.
Desert Island Disc: ‘The Division Bell’ by Pink Floyd. This is an album that I’ve been going back to for a long time.
What you love about music: I love writing music and being creatively expressive with it – I find it to be very fulfilling, like therapy for the soul.
Motto: Life’s too short not to follow your passion and enjoy your work.
Bio: Mike is an accomplished guitar tutor and maintains a 100% merit/distinction rate with students of all ages who undertake the Rockschool exams over a 20+ year period. He has experience teaching privately, in schools and for private organisations. Mike regularly leads band sessions and teaches group guitar lessons for both children and adults. Mike fronts Leeds based metal band ALL I LIVE FOR (https://allilivefor.com). This project has led to developing a wide range of skills and knowledge, including singing and playing guitar, writing, recording, mixing and mastering the songs, graphic design, video editing, social media management, online merchandise store management, web development, advertising and marketing, booking and organising shows and general band management.
