Biography: Emily Levy is a singer, songwriter and composer, originally from London and Oxford and now based in Yorkshire. Her sound is both intimate and dynamic with musical influences ranging from folk and jazz, to medieval and flamenco, (debut solo album ‘Lost and Found’ 2012).
Emily’s work as a composer ranges from pieces for Choral Groups (Marian Consort, Voice, Sospiri, Oxford Youth Choirs) to Cross Art Form collaborations with dance, theatre, film and Radio (BBC Radio 4, Lee Fisher, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Japanese Contemporary Dance Network). The projects often have a site-specific element, written for locations such as cathedrals, hospitals, schools, universities and public spaces.
Emily is a member of early music group Sinfonye, led by composer Stevie Wishart, recording the music of Hildegard von Bingen and touring internationally. Their latest release, (Decca 2012), culminated in singing for the Pope in the Vatican and premiered at the York Early Music Festival 2013.
